Banco Galicia closes accounts of some clients from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus

Since 28–29 October, clients of Argentina's Banco Galicia from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus report that their accounts were blocked or closed without notice: the account disappears from the app, new accounts are refused and the balance can only be withdrawn at a branch. Argentine citizens, including some with payroll accounts, are also affected, but not all clients from these countries. Branches cite a 'commercial decision'; Galicia has not made an official statement. According to media reports, around 500 people are preparing a class action.

Who is affected
Galicia clients connected with Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, including those who became Argentine citizens, and anyone planning to pay a clinic, rent or deposit through this bank.
What to do
Do not keep funds for upcoming large payments at Galicia; open a backup account at another bank or digital wallet in advance; if your account was closed, ask the branch for a written answer and a statement.
