Entry and stay

How long can you stay in Argentina without a visa?confirmed
Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine — up to 90 days; Kazakhstan — up to 30 days; Uzbekistan is not on the visa-exempt list, so a visa is required.

The length of stay is set on entry.

Can a tourist stay be extended?confirmed
Yes, once for a similar period — at Migraciones and only before the stay expires. After expiry it cannot be extended; you request an exit authorisation.

The fee is in Migraciones’ fee table.

The baby: citizenship and documents

Will the baby be an Argentine citizen?confirmed
Yes. Anyone born in Argentina is a citizen by birth regardless of the parents’ nationality (Ley 346, art. 1). The exception is children of foreign diplomats.
What is the deadline to register the birth?confirmed
Parents register the birth within 40 calendar days (Ley 26.413, art. 28). Later registration needs an administrative resolution with evidence or a court order.

Parents: residency and citizenship

When can parents become Argentine citizens?changing or contested
Under DNU 366/2025 — after 2 years of continuous legal residency with no trips abroad; the precaria does not count, and the application goes to Migraciones. The rule is contested in court: several 2026 rulings declared it unconstitutional for individual applicants.

We found no ruling with general effect or from the Supreme Court — check the procedure when you apply.

Healthcare and money

Are national public hospitals free for foreigners?confirmed
Since August 2026 (Resolución 1066/2026) foreigners without permanent residency pay for planned care at national hospitals — insurance or prepayment. Emergency care, including obstetric emergencies, cannot be refused but may be billed after stabilisation.

This also covers parents with temporary residency.

And Buenos Aires city hospitals?confirmed
Since March 2025 (Resolución 1054/MSGC/2025) foreigners without residency are billed for planned care via their insurer or consulate. Emergencies are never refused; temporary and permanent residents are treated like citizens.

The annex was later replaced (Res. 913/2026) — check the details.
